Do you have an idea for a novel product or a solution that
should be built and tested? JHC Spring Build offers the opportunity, space,
tools and resources for an ideation and prototype building project for students of The LUT
group. The ideas will be selected in cooperation with Mr. Jamie Hyneman, the
legendary builder and inventor.
Schedule:
1. Carefully fill in the JHC spring build application form and save it in your computer. If you cannot download the application form, please contact jhc@lut.fi, and we will send the form to you by e-mail. Send
a) the filled form and
b) a blueprint or a sketch of the planned prototype (in *.pdf format)
to jhc@lut.fi with the title ´JHC Spring Build´ by December 16th 2018.
2. Week 4/2019:
Six ideas will be chosen for further development in cooperation with Jamie Hyneman. The selection will be announced to all participants in January 2019. Selection criteria are:
- target and novelty of the idea
- possibility to build the prototype in JHC
- efficient use of a variety of skills
- the need and usability of the final product
3. Week 5/2019:
Work processes and equipment in JHC are introduced to the groups, and after that, they can start working independently on their ideas at JHC.
4. Weeks 9-10/2019:
The first check-points. The Spring builders will introduce their work to the JHC Spring Build board and Jamie Hyneman, and will comments and ideas for the further development of their work.
5. On week 17, The prototypes will be presented in an open JHC spring seminar.
