The JHC Co-Creation program

Do you have an idea for a novel product or a solution that should be built and tested?

The JHC Co-Creation program offers the opportunity, space, tools and resources for an ideation and prototype building project for students of the LUT group: LUT, Saimia and LAMK. Six ideas will be selected to the program, and get some financial sponsoring, too. In this autumn, especially multidisciplinary groups will be appreciated in evaluation of applications.

The JHC Co-Creation program consists of two parts: Part A in autumn 2019, and part B in Spring 2020.

Schedule:

  1. Get an idea, and gather a group to realize it. The idea could be totally your own, or you can use, for example, an idea coming from a company. You can also focus on an idea connected with lake Saimaa, or re-use of trash materials for building a new prototype, repair, renovate or transform some old device to a new one.

You can find skilled persons from other disciplines to your group in Kettukerho (Get together) event, on the 12th of September.

  1. 17.9. at 17:15. Virtual lecture by Jamie Hyneman: Vacuforming from a Pro, classroom 1316

  1. Carefully fill in the JHC Co-Creation application form by September 27th.

  1. Week 39/2019:
Six ideas will be chosen for further development, and the selection results will be announced to all applicants until the end of September 2019. Selection criteria are: aim and novelty of the idea, possibilities to actually build the prototype during the program, efficient use of a variety of skills, and need and usability of the final product. Multidisciplinary groups will be counted as positive bonus.

  1. Week 40/2019:
Work processes and equipment in JHC are introduced to the groups, and after that, they can start working independently on their ideas at JHC or other suitable workshops at Saimia or LAMK.

  2. Weeks 44-45/2019:
First check-point meetings. All builders will introduce their work to the Co-Creation program board and Jamie Hyneman, and will get possible comments and ideas for the further develop of their work.

  1. On week 49, the prototypes will be presented in an open seminar. It is possible to add new members in groups for the B part if certain skills are needed to take the prototype to a next level.

  1. Week 1 / 2020
    Part B begins.

  1. Weeks 8-9/2020:
    Second check-point meetings.

  1. Week 17/2020:
    JHC Spring seminar

  1.  It is possible to get 6 ECTS credits by writing a report or portfolio of the building process and reflecting on one’s personal learning during it.
